New 2022 Mazda 3 Manual Transmission, Changes, Interior – The New 2022 Mazda 3 was solid. Unfortunately, Mazda let itself down by offering a car that had decent dynamics but no engine. Although the 2.5-liter, 186-horsepower, naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter machine is well-built and efficient, it felt a little lacking in power. Introducing a turbocharged version, which produces 250 hp, 320 lb-ft of torque, and generates 250 hp, is part of 2022’s plan.
A new base motor of only 155 horsepower will also be made. It’s still possible to get the 3 Sedans with FWD or AWD. The 6-speed manual gearbox remains the same. However, the new turbocharged version of the motor, generating 250 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque, as well as a base motor with only 155 hp, has been enhanced to support the superb chassis we love.
The Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and Volkswagen Jetta are all competitors in the compact sedan segment. But Mazda’s sleek design, excellent handling dynamics, and premium interior might be enough to earn it the top spot. Mazda sent us a turbo version for a week-long drive to see if its virtues could be enough to propel it into stardom. It didn’t disappoint.
New 2022 Mazda 3 Redesign
Mazda’s design language, “Kodo: Soul of Motion,” is what it calls. Unfortunately, it’s just a bit of marketing jargon that loosely translates into swoopy minimalism. In all seriousness, the New 2022 Mazda 3 designers continue to give other manufacturers a hard time when it comes down to design. As an example, take the Honda Civic sedan. A lot is going on in this car, and it’s not for the wrong reasons. Mazda’s minimalist exterior is complemented by simple curves that make the base model stand out.
All trims come with automatic LED headlights and DRLs. However, the Premium model has signature-styled items. Lower-end models get a matte-finish grille that turns gloss black with the Preferred. Also, the lower bumper garnish is gloss black, and there’s a power-sliding sunroof.
Premium models get a sharkfin antenna, and the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus has a black trunk lid spoiler. The wheels on the 2.5S and 2.0 models measure 16 inches, while all other models have 18-inch alloys. Certain trims have model-specific finishes, such as black on turbo models or a polished look for the Premium.
The interior is more attractive than the exterior. This is due to the same reasons. The new Mazda 3 2022 strikes the perfect balance between minimalism and easy access to the driver and passengers’ essential features. Mazda’s current lineup continues to be a great deal cheaper than the German premium trio with their high-priced models. The seats are well-padded across the range, with perforated leather on the high-spec models. Additionally, the sedan has better visibility than the hatch due to the more traditional-shaped C-pillar. The standard specification is generous and includes:
- Air conditioning (dual-zone climate control higher up).
- Push-button start remote keyless entry.
- 8.8-inch central display.
- Remote keyless entry.
New 2022 Mazda 3 Engine
The New 2022 Mazda 3 has three engine options, making it more versatile. Although the base 2.0-liter produces only 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque, it is one of the most efficient models in the lineup. Unfortunately, this turbo is only available in front-wheel drive, and it’s locked to the base trim.
The turbo delivers performance, but the 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated 2.5 liter plays a more general role in the mid-spec models (2.5 S, Select Preferred, and Premium). It offers a good mix of semi-brisk performance with excellent fuel economy, generating 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft.
Unfortunately, although it sounds good, the engine can sometimes sound a bit coarse. Only the AWD version of the new turbocharged model will be available. You can get up to 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft from it, or you can fuel it with regular gasoline for 227 HP and 310 Lb-ft.
Unfortunately, the motor is not an actual performance motor and hates to be wrung out. As a result, the engine drops sharply after 5,000 pm. To ride the surge of torque down low, the six-speed auto insists on shifting below the redline.
New 2022 Mazda 3 Release Date And Price
The New 2022 Mazda 3’s price is more affordable due to the addition of new engines. The base price for the 2.0 Sedan, the entry-level model, has been revised to $20,000. The 2.5 S is next at $21,650 and the Select at $22,850. The Mazda 3 is priced at $24,500 in Preferred trim, but it costs $22,850 to upgrade to Premium specification with an MSRP of $27,000.
The turbocharged models are not cheap. They retail for $30,050 in 2.5T Turbo guise and $32,600 if you choose 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus. In addition, select, Preferred, and Premium models can have the all-wheel-drive for $1,400 more. These prices do not include Mazda’s $995 destination fee.
